PRO CLUBS

With new customisation options to make your club stand out in the stands and on the pitch, a new player growth system that puts you in control of your Virtual Pro’s development, and streamlined social play that makes it easier than ever to find your next game, it’s time to get the squad together for a new season of Pro Clubs.

Create Your Club

In FIFA 22, you now have the ability to create your own team in Manager Career, which is something I know a lot of you have been passionately requesting over the years.

Player Career

We’ve made significant changes and updates to Player Career in FIFA 22 in order to refresh the mode and make your player journey more memorable.

Player Growth (Created Players)

The FIFA 22 Player Career features an overhauled Player Growth system that puts the development of your created players in your hands. It’s all about earning experience points (XP) and leveling up your player as you progress through your career.

Dressing Room Atmosphere

We’ve added dressing room cinematic sequences at the end of each match in Player Career. They reflect your team’s and your player’s latest performance, from celebrating trophy wins to the dramatic loss in a derby.

Transfers Updates

We’ve refreshed the Transfer Negotiation cinematic sequences to provide a more vivid experience as you try to get the best deal possible out of a negotiation.

Expanded Stories

One of our goals for FIFA 22 is to better celebrate achievements and career milestones.

Dynamic Tifos

We previously had to rely on existing player art in fan tifos, but that is now a thing of the past. In FIFA 22 if a player becomes one of the top rated players in the team or if they have a long tenure at a club, they can be used in player tifos displayed by fans ahead of an important match.

Make the most of your FIFA 22 Career Mode experience

EA’s virtual soccer simulator is back for another year and FIFA 22 brings with it some interesting updates to Career Mode, which is easily the most popular part of the FIFA experience outside of Ultimate Team. In this year’s version of the game, players are able to create their own club and customize its aesthetics and board expectations.

You can bypass training days now

It’s a tiny tweak, but by selecting the Advancement Interruptions option in the main Career Mode screen, you can now summon an option to bypass training days when you’re simulating your season. This means you don’t have to go through the arduous process of being halted and forced to quick sim every training session.

Interactive match sim is your best friend

This feature arrived in FIFA 21 but it’s still just as revolutionary. If you choose to simulate a Career Mode match you can now watch over it on a Football Manager-style screen, and jump in whenever things aren’t going as well as you might have hoped.

Build a relationship with your manager

If you prefer Player Career over Manager Career, my first piece of advice is to play as your own created player rather than an actual player. This is because it opens up a whole skill tree, an attribute selection screen and gives you perks to unlock.

Is Cutscenes in Career Mode?

Cutscenes. Cutscenes, and not just press conferences, would be a great inclusion into Career Mode - and they have been immensely popular on PES' Master League since its remaster for PES 2019. It is believed these will arrive for FIFA 22, and could be part of a Story Mode integration.

Player Career Mode Alterations

Minor Alterations

Create Your Club

As we saw with the Pro Clubs deep dive, customization is high atop the priority list for EA this year. While it looks like the Creation Center as we previously knew it won’t be making a return, in its place will now be the ability to create your club with a plethora of options to put your own unique stamp on ownership.

Player Career Mode

I’m a big fan of single-player career modes. Whether it be player career mode in FIFA or The Show ‘s Road to the Show, I like playing these types of modes where I can play out a story arc creating my own fictional headlines along the way.

Dressing Room Atmosphere, Transfers, And Expanded News Stories

I’ve lumped all of these together because they all share one common theme, namely all of the other “stuff” you do when you’re not actually playing matches.

Bottom Line

To be honest, if I were a traditional career mode player using a default team, I’d be a little upset. The majority of the updates are either centered around creating a club or player career mode. The changes alone that should have come from refining last year’s additions would have been welcomed — as would a few new wrinkles here and there.

Gameplay & graphics upgrades

The main selling point for FIFA 22 is the HyperMotion gameplay technology available only on next-gen consoles PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The game uses the power of those new consoles to provide a more realistic football experience than ever before.

Changes to Volta

VOLTA was first introduced in FIFA 20 as a way of bringing back FIFA Street and it has been the main story mode for the past two seasons. It receives a major overhaul for FIFA 22 with an all-new story, Volta Arcade, a new Skill Meter, and a bigger focus on skill moves and flair:

Pro Clubs

The Pro Clubs game mode is getting some promising improvements in FIFA 22. You can now create female pros in the game and develop your virtual player exactly how you want, choosing what style to play and how the player grows during your Pro Clubs career.
