This is one of my favourite aspects of career mode and crucial to keeping a save interesting over several seasons. As players in the game get older, they’ll begin to decline and eventually retire. This would shrink the player base massively within a few seasons so the game needs a way to generate new players.

EA didn’t make many changes to career mode this year, youth scouting was no exception. For that reason and the fact that it worked well last year, I’ve kept the same basic structure to walk you through the basics of youth scouting in FIFA 19. When people are looking for FIFA 19 tips to help them in the game, this content is still very relevant.
Why hire a youth scout?
Hiring a youth scout is the first step in youth scouting and plays a big role in determining your success. Ignore a scout’s nationality – it won’t affect their scouting ability! A scout with high experience will find you more players, and has a better chance of finding specific player types.
Can youth scouts be more effective?
Testing this doesn’t seem to show any differences with scouts of different nationalities, nor is anything hidden in the game code. Strangely, youth scouts are no more effective when scouting in their home country.
How to find players in FIFA 19?

Player Type
- Once a player joins your academy, their player type will be confirmed, if it wasn’t already. This will be really important to you if you’re aiming for a player of a specific type or position. I’ve already mentioned this but player type tends to affect a player’s stats more than anything else.
Age
- This comes up in the monthly scouting reports but it’s not as important there so I’ve saved it for this part. Youth players can be as young as 15 and as old as 18. You can sign anyone to your youth academy regardless of their age, but you can’t promote someone to the senior squad until they are 16 years old.
