Becoming a better player doesn’t usually mean you have to work hours upon hours of practice just to get the perfect kick. Most of it revolves around realizing your gameplay and noticing your little mistakes and learning from them. It’s also important to take notice of your attitude in the game and how you handle losing one.

Be patient in your own half

Don’t be too hasty to slide in, or stick a foot in when defending, and play a patient method of football, holding the opposition at bay and ensuring they can’t advance or put a cross in. We’re not suggesting you let your opponent play in your half, just that patience is a virtue.

Relax with the sprint button

A common mistake among FIFA players is that you are always holding the sprint button down. For starters, this will fatigue your players quickly, which offers your online opponent a chance to outpace you all over the pitch in the later stages of a game, leaving you clinging for dear life as you just can’t keep up.

Offline, use the sliders

Not a lot of people bother to do this, but any negatives you find in the pace of the game, and generally with the difficulty you play on, can be tweaked for offline play. The gameplay sliders allow you to change the offline modes to really match your needs, and can go as far as speeding up the gameplay, or slowing it down.

Snipe FUT cards, if you can live with yourself

You know that guy who sits on an eBay auction, grabbing an item you want at the last second while you’re at work? Here’s a secret about him: while he’s deeply sad on the inside, he’s happy in the moment: he got the deal and you lost out.

When playing online, watch your opponent

There’s something to be said for researching and studying your opponent, because focusing solely on what you’re doing is a surefire way to get roundly beaten in an online match.

Have a varied team, and backup on the bench

Look, we all want to have Ronaldo, Bale, and Messi in our team, because they’re the best in the world, but can they cut it on a wet and windy night in Stoke, England? Yes, probably, but just in case, why not have a different type of player on the bench for those matches where the skill players just aren’t cutting it.

Practise the set pieces, penalties and skill moves

Love them or hate them: they’re not going away and the new set pieces (corners, free kicks, and penalties) will take some practice to stop you making a fool of yourself online. Hit up the practice arena, perhaps even have a runthrough of The Journey (which gets you to train a lot!) and get good at these new set pieces.

Who is the best player in Fifa 17?

For Fifa 17, Tottenham's Dele Alli has a rating of 90 out of 99, making him the best young talent in the game. Charly Musonda - currently on loan at Real Betis - is another top choice at 88, as is Chelsea's Kurt Zouma at 89.

Does Fifa 17 have pushback tech?

The physicality of Fifa has changed dramatically for Fifa 17 with the introduction of Pushback Tech - so now you have far more control over the body of your player, with their momentum and size dictating everything from the fluidity of dribbling to the crunch of a collision.

Player Sleeves

As a big fan of ‘Road to Glory’ nothing irks me more than to see the ‘League 2’ badge on my team when I’ve finally managed to get Portsmouth to the Premier League. I mean, is it really that hard to add a new badge when you enter a new league? Actually, the answer is probably yes.

Kit Design

We’re about to get a little crazy, hold on. You don’t need to have 10 unique kits designed for each team. However, why not make 10 conventional kits where, regardless of who you play as, you can switch to one of those designs.

Career Statistics

How is this not yet a thing? I mean, if I want to see a summary of how I did each season as a manager over the years, what’s stopping me? EA, of course! If you accidentally simulate and trigger the end of the year, all rewards and accolades are out the window and you’ll never know how you performed.

Stadiums

I’m 100% positive we used to be able to upgrade our stadiums in FIFA 10. What happened to that? There used to be ten levels of upgrades that you could apply to your stadium as your club grew in size and money. If you get promoted you should, at the very least, be able to pick a larger stadium from the generic pool.

Press Conferences

Can we just get rid of these? Does anyone really use them anymore or have they not yet come to the realization that it has zero bearing on the match? There should be managerial modifiers that effect what the players, owners, and fans think of you. Very much like what we’ve seen in ‘The Journey’, except translated into Career Mode.

Realistic Transfers

I recall EA’s announcement to changes in career mode over a year ago and one of the bullet points was realistic transfers and less scripting. Yet it seems nothing has really changed. Regardless of my save - 9/10 times David Alaba will go to Juventus and Harry Kane will go to Manchester United.

Crowds

Does a round one FA Cup match against a League Two side have to have the same atmosphere as a Champions Cup final? Come on, EA.
