Try starting origin with steam (add origin as a non-steam game). Worked with my controller issues last year.

I've played previous FIFA's versions with a generic wired controller with no problems. With FIFA 22 I'm not able to do so. On the outside menu (game definitions) before entering the game there is no longer a folder for the controller, just video and audio definitions. Should tat be addressed and solved by EA.
